It finally happened, one of my posts has had 1,000 views. Can anyone guess which one it is?

For the last several days it has been sitting at 998 views and the runner up,  my Carnival of the Godless # 99 post, was slowly catching up. The winner, the first to hit 1,000 views, have you guessed yet, is …

Teenager arrested for ‘blasphemous’ T-shirt

What is it with you lot? Is it that you just like to see the words “Jesus is a Cunt“, or did I actually write something that was interesting?

To the people who commented on that blog that I didn’t say anything about Muhammad

Muhammad is a cunt too

Remember: Blasphemy is a victimless crime.

How odd, ‘cunt’ wasn’t recognised by my spell checker?

Back to normal programming soon, apologies to anyone who doesn’t like the use of the C word.

  1. No worries! I’ve heard it before this post! 😉
    1,000 views. Wow! Very cool!

Dawkins & Darwin are arse holes.

Odd…I rarely used that word until Sarah Palin ran for VP in the US. And McCain calling his wife the C word was the only thing he ever said that I agreed with.

  4. I find that word incredibly offensive. Incredibly disrespectful.

However, what another person chooses to wear on their body is their business.

I once was asked to censor t-shirts in a classroom/school hallway situation. When I refused the principal of the school was livid with me. My main reason to refuse was because the t-shirt was in response to another shirt being worn by a different group of students. I found both shirts offensive but I would not censor one over the other.

After hearing my point of view the thought of censoring was dropped altogether.

  5. That is one of my favorite words ever.

  6. wineymomma as I said on the original post, I think the c word is the most offensive of all swear words, and one I avoid using.

Your example makes a good point, that censorship is a two way street. Though I think in a classroom situation there should be some limits on what children can say or display. But any censorship has to be even-handed.

There’s an easy way of confounding the anti-censorship lobby. Just play the race card. Design a T-shirt saying “All Africans are spongers” or similar. Or denying the Holocaust (much less dangerous than denying climate change).

This is it mate. End of an era. Worst Oz defeat since 88. Regards to Ricky Ponting.

Dawkins & Darwin are arse holes.

Interestingly enough, you could put that on a t-shirt, wear it in public and expect the following to happen:

    . . .

    Nothing.

No intervention by the local constabulary. No whining about “blasphemy” and taking Darwin’s name in vain.

    Funny, that.

    Imperial British Ultra Conservative Party

Dawkins recently attended the Conservative Party conference, speaking at the launch of the Conservative Humanist Association.

Teh Infidel has infiltrated your Party. OH NOES!!!!

No, mate, I’m ULTRA conservative. Rarely vote. Tho’ I was happy to see Mzzz Helen Clark is out. Don’t like the look of her replacement much. Multi-millionaire. Bad news, in the present disaster.

    Enjoying yer chocolate?

    Epic trolling fail.

  12. Oh my Novparl, I feel so offended. You have criticised 2 of my prophets 🙂

  13. don’t feed the troll

PS. novparl posted several comments under another account, they are sitting in my moderation queue. can’t decide whether to release them on society or not, don’t think you deserve that sort of punishment. LOL

  14. ehh, do aociety a favor and teach us a lesson. The trolls are filled with lulz…

  15. novparl

Ah, wondered what happened to them. I think you’re quite right to protect people from other points of view. I urge you to censor me.

    Thank you.

  16. arthurvandelay

How eagerly the troll morphs into a martyr.

Given that I’ve been engaged in a tete-a-tete with a Christian apologist in a thread you’e since commented in, clearly OzAtheist doesn”t censor other points of view. Baby Jesus doesn”t like it when you tell lies.

If you’re being censored, novparl, it’s because of your trolling and your abusive rhetoric, not your opinions. If someone entered your home and took a dump on the floor, you’d be under no obligation to allow him to remain. And OzAtheist is under no obligation to tolerate your trolling. Indeed, if anyone is the censor here, it”s you. Trolls don’t seek to engage in honest and rational debate; they seek to silence opinions they disagree with by drowining it out with noise.

  17. novparl

Please define troll. To me there’s no such thing. There’s only free speech. If I upset you (easily done), just stop rreading. There’s no need to get upset with any opinion.

  18. OK you asked, I’ve released them, don’t blame me.
    ————————-

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

    ————————-

eg. novparl’s comment “Enjoying yer chocolate?(amongst others) 🙂

  19. AV

    There’s only free speech.

You have free speech. You have the freedom to start your own blog and emote to your heart’s content.

You’re confusing the right to free speech, which does (or should) exist, with the right to force others to listen to or publish your opinions, which certainly doesn’t exist.

    Oz:

with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Which is the very antithesis of free speech. (Insofar as the troll seeks to close down debate, not open it.)
