“Quotable Quotes”

Whilst trawling the atheosphere today, I came across a few good quotes. I particularly liked this one about prayer and forgiveness of sins:

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bike. Then I realised that The Lord doesn’t work that way, so I stole one and asked him to forgive me. from sickipedia

or these from Humanism By Joe:

“If you pray for rain long enough, it eventually does fall. If you pray for floodwaters to abate, they eventually do. The same happens in the absence of prayers.” Steve Allen

“I prayed for freedom twenty years, but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.” Frederick Douglass

I’m not sure what he was talking about put it certainly pertains to a purpose for atheists to speak out:

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” James Baldwin

On religion in general:

“Every religion preaches the truth of propositions for which it has no evidence.” Sam Harris

“Gullibility and credulity are considered undesirable qualities in every department of human life – except religion. . . .” Christopher Hitchens
