The IQ2 debate is tomorrow night, but Daniel Pipes has fired the first salvo today in his article in the SMH titled:
Give Muslims time to find democratic feet
Daniel’s opinion is, that given time Muslim countries could become as democratic as any other country. However,
In the meanwhile, Islamism represents the world’s leading anti-democratic force.
I’d have to agree with that closing statement of his. I’d also point out, that any country which uses any sort of religion to base their governmental system on, or to make governmental decisions with, is rife with problems.

Does that mean you have a problem with Israel, which incorporates Jewish law into their legal system?

I’ll admit I’m not very knowledgeable able Israel and Jewish law, but one has to wonder how much of the problems between Israel and Palestine has to do with religion?
If both countries had purely secular governments, didn’t view themselves as a Jewish nation or an Arab/Muslim nation, would a peaceful solution be easier to negotiate?
